Artwork should be used to enhance the value of the brand. Embracing the concepts of locally curated, evolving, and uncomplicated luxury the art selections at a Discovery Well Being should work to enhance the overall design aesthetic and brand values.

  • Many different approaches may be taken when curating the art collection. Consider the following approaches
Locally Curated
Locally Curated
  • Allowing the local culture to shine through, consider selecting artwork with regional meaning and importance per project. This creates a rich and relevant collection that promotes the local artisans while lending authenticity to the spa environment.
Evolving
Evolving
  • Allowing each guest to make a contribution, and fostering a sense of community, consider an evolving art selection that allows for input by the guest. Additionally, the spa could feature a rotating series of exhibits that is curated by the hotel or the Discovery Well Being Expert.
Interactive

  • Promoting creativity and encouraging curiosity, provide interactive art displays such as lighting installations or digital mediums to allow each guest to discover something new on their own terms.

  • The Discovery Well Being encourages the use of many types of media. Mediums are not only limited to traditional paintings consider the use of metals, textiles, canvas, digital installations, lighting, ceramics and/or organics.

  • The placement of art throughout the space will depend upon the site specific facility and furniture plans, yet care should be taken in hallways to place art at end walls to provide focal points through the journey.

  • The color palette of the artwork should reinforce the brand color palette.

  • Each artwork is unique. Some require frames and others do not. Whether using frames or not ensure that all edges provide a finished look. Unpainted or unfinished edges are unacceptable. Provide matting as required.
Quality
Quality
  • The use of original art is encouraged but may not be feasible for all locations. If limited original art is used consider placing in the more prominent arrival and common areas for maximum impact. When original art is not utilized provide high quality reproductions such as giclee. Poster art is not acceptable.
