Locations

Ringing phones may disrupt a spa experience. The number and location of phones is dependent upon the size and operational philosophy of the spa. Confirm with your representative the locations of all phones which may be located at:

  • Confirm the location in which the system shall be monitored and recorded.
  • Coordinate camera locations with the interior design.
  • Areas with security and surveillance may include:
    • Arrival

    • Vulnerable windows
  • Cameras are not permissible at areas where guests maybe disrobed.

DURESS ALARMS & EMERGENCY PHONES

Objective

Provide duress alarms or emergency house phones at potentially problematic areas.

  • The duress alarm/house phone must be clearly indicated and easily accessible from the area it serves.
  • Provide signage in both English and the local language and provide clear instructions for use.
  • The emergency alarm system should engage a local alarm and relay an alarm to a centralized location monitored 24 hours a day.

    • Fitness areas
    • Pools, whirlpools, vitality pools, hot tubs, plunge pools
    • Steam room, snow cabin, aromatherapy, Hammam, rhassoul, and sauna room

AUDIO

Objective

Confirm the audio requirements with your Discovery Well Being representative. The distributed audio system must be adaptable to different power types and languages as the system will be used across the globe. Anticipate 4-6 sources.

Equipment

Provide a lockable audio closet to house the equipment located close to the administration offices or back of house for ease of monitoring. The equipment may consist of satellite music receivers, iPod players, and/or MP3 players. Ensure the system is adequately grounded to eliminate speaker “hum.” Provide a UPS system to “clean” the power and to protect the components from power fluctuations.

Concept

The sound system should be designed with several separate music zones. Each zone requires a minimum of four separate music channels and a volume control with an “off” position. Speakers should be evenly spaced and concealed. Music zones may be separated as follows:

  • Front of house zone: arrival, retail, hallways leading to treatment rooms, and hallways to locker areas
  • Women’s and Men’s locker areas: grooming areas, showers, lockers, and hallways. Provide GFCI protected controls and waterproof speakers for the wet areas
  • Wet areas, Steam, Sauna, pools, etc.

  • Treatment Rooms: Every treatment room should have a docking station for an MP3 player, located out of site in the cabinet. Provide one ceiling speaker located at the head end over the guest receiving a treatment.
