Arrival Lobby

Objective

page icon
Provide a reception area to welcome guests, to arrange appointments, and to serve as a control point for spa activities. The successful integration of the spa theme with the architectural elements and functional requirements is required to create a positive first impression and a welcome sense of arrival involving all five senses.

Space Planning

Position the welcome desk when possible directly across from the entrance. If multiple entrances are required ensure that the welcome desk and/or check out desk staff can monitor guest traffic.

Design Features

The reception desk is the focal point of the entrance design unless it is deemed secondary to an architectural feature or prominent view.

Larger spas may utilize separate but identical stand up desks for greeting guests prior to a treatment and checking guests out after a treatment.
The desk should be uncluttered and have clear sightlines of the retail areas. Ensure the desk meets local accessibility codes.

Electrical and Technology Requirements

The number of computer stations will vary with the spa size and whether a separate check-out desk is part of the spa program. Refer to the architectural program or consult with your client representative to determine the number of computer stations. The general rule is one computer station per five treatment rooms with a minimum of two.
