Objective

Include sinks and counter area for personal grooming, make-up, hygiene, shaving and hair care.

Space Planning

Position the sinks and grooming areas between the locker areas, toilets, and showers. Configure the area for privacy. Do not place sinks in hallways. In some cases the dry grooming areas could be integrated within the locker areas

  • Include a standing height grooming station for men and a sitting height station for the women.
  • Lavatory and faucet as determined by interior designer. (Avoid automated faucets in men’s area as it inhibits shaving.)
  • Provide adequate space, shelves, or convenient cubbies for miscellaneous products. These products may include: hair accessories, body lotion, face lotion, mouthwash, q-tips, cotton balls, combs, body powder, shower caps, shave cream, feminine hygiene products, toothpaste, toothbrush, razors, deodorant, hair dryers, curling irons, etc.
  • Cloth or paper towel dispensers.
  • A non-flammable hamper for cloth towels
  • Provide built-in trash receptacles to conceal trash contents from view.
  • Provide outlets above the countertop for hair dryers and curling irons.
  • Include full length mirrors, vanity mirrors, and lighted makeup mirrors.
  • Conceal all plumbing below the countertop with millwork.
