Position the locker area near the locker room entry. Situate the lockers in areas that promote a sense of privacy. Do not place lockers in main circulation areas.
  • If a membership program exists, position the dedicated member lockers separately from spa guest lockers.
  • Smaller lockers or cubbies may be provided for use by fitness guests.
  • At larger locker areas, avoid large wide open locker rooms. Use the layout of the lockers to strategically create smaller nodes of changing areas to create a greater sense of privacy.
  • Visual privacy is desired. A doorway leading from coed areas, should not permit a direct view into the changing area of the locker area.

Design Features

Features:
Features:
  • If the facility contains a pool or similar amenity, include a swim suit extractor to dry suits.
  • Specify stools, ottomans or other seating that is comfortable, easily movable with durable and water resistant finishes. Supply one for every three to five lockers.
  • Accessibility regulations may mandate specific sizes, heights and lengths of benches.
  • Include full height mirrors. Ensure mirrors are located in areas that do not compromise the other guests that are changing.
  • Plan for a high quality weight scale.
  • Consider designing countertops or alcoves for grooming and make-up interspersed between the lockers. Design the counters for sitting at the women’s locker rooms and standing at the men’s locker rooms. Include power for hair dryers.
  • Provide a beverage station featuring fruit-infused waters, and light snacks.
