Aromatherapy Inhalation Room
Objective
Aromatherapy is the practice of using aromatic compounds from plants, flowers, resins and woods to promote psychological and physiological benefits. These scents may include; cinnamon, eucalyptus, rosemary, pine, thyme or a multitude of other fragrances. Selections should be made on a regional basis and should promote the local culture when possible. Coordinate with a Discovery Well Being representative for additional information.
Space Planning
Locate the inhalation room adjacent to the wet lounge and positioned with other wet or relaxation amenities.
Design Features
Features:
- Aromatherapy room construction varies depending upon the spa concept. Rooms may be tiled and infused with some steam or humidity, or a quiet furniture filled space.
- If a steam or humidity generator is used, provide vapor-proof construction following the criteria specified by local building code regulations and the steam installer.
- Provide comfortable, relaxing seating options.
- Rooms may include heated loungers, upholstered chaises, or lounge seating.
- Provide an aromatherapy dispensing system based on the construction and purpose of the room. Many different methods exist to diffuse aromas into a space and may include;
- A diffuser connected to the HVAC system.
- A diffuser integral with a steam or humidity generator.
- Candles
- A freestanding movable piece of equipment plugged into an outlet in the room.
- Coordinate the equipment and room construction with your representative.
- Include a focal feature within the room.
- Room temperatures may vary based on regional preferences. Cooler rooms may be appropriate for warm climates and warmer rooms may be more suitable to cooler climates.
- Locate controls and timers in back of house space to be controlled by the employees.
